White Pigeon is located in southern St. Joseph County (http://www.infomi.com/county/saintjoseph/) near the Michigan/Indiana border . White Pigeon was incorporated in 1837, and is the oldest incorporated village in Michigan. It was named after an Indian chief who lived there in the early 1800’s.

Today, White Pigeon remains a small, primarily agricultural town. It is also the home of the Little River Railroad, which can be seen just south of town at the depot. This Railroad is a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration, preservation and operation of historical railway equipment. Its main features are a Baldwin Locomotive and an early RS Diesel. It runs various excursion trains to Sturgis and Coldwater seasonally.
