A general question of curiosity
Over these past recent years we've seen many businesses leaving Michigan
Many going over seas, but many others just going to other states
The ones going over seas say it's because it's cheaper to do business
Is this the same reason for going to other states?
If not, what is it?
What's Michigan doing that needs to change to keep business here?
Any idea's?

I think it is DEFINITELY because of cheaper labor and costs.
Name a company that isn't about making as much money as they can. Sending the work over to Mexico and now China saves them money from product, process, salary, and benefits. They can turn their backs on how workers are treated because the laws aren't in place there to protect them. All the while, they are reaping the profits.
I think about all the years that the unions fought so hard to bring us worker's rights and it has become lost in the woods, so to speak. It's not that I am pro- or anti-union, but these organizations were responsible for us not having to work 7 days a week and 12-16 hours or more a day.

I agree with Mayday. NAFTA (as well as our other trade agreeements) do not look at the ramifications on our citizens and companies. Other countries look out for their people. Why not the US?
In Michigan, we are becoming more "business and resident unfriendly." You can't tax your way out of this mess...but, all levels of government don't seem to know how to reduce the unnecessary/unneeded spending. Our representatives are in in for the short gains..."What's in it for me?"
With this mentality, it will become more and more unpleasant and difficult for the US citizens and the companies that are still here...providing jobs (jobs that allow people to earn a fair living and support their families).
This is just my two cents...anyway. (I'm sure others have their own and will disagree with me.)

But many of these businesses are just simply going to other states
Why so?

Good question---maybe the other states are offering better tax incentives---I don't know. Or maybe it is the general feeling of these businesses that Michigan is a lost cause.
