There is very strong speculation that President Bush will pardon Roger Clemens if indeed Mr. Clemens is found guilty of having illegal drugs injected into his body. President Bush and Mr. Clemens both reside in Texas and are very close friends. I without question would not agree with this but would love to hear what all of ylp members think. Thank you.

Rant alert:

"There is speculation" is one of those convenient phrases used to incite and elicit a gut response. Speculation by who? CNN, FOX News, some drunk guy in a pub? What indication is there that 1. this case will go to court, 2. a conviction would be obtained, 3. all this would happen in time for Bush to still be in office, 4. Bush is prepared to do this and 5. That public opinion could sway Bush if he was planning to do this. Public opinion hasn't mattered to this guy unless it agrees with his preveiosly chosen position.
Addtitionally "There is speculation" reminds me of the phrase "I've heard someone say" or "Is Britney considering ____?" Whose the someone and unless she is than the question is just a tease to get a rise out of the audience. It would be nice if the media and it's minions would quit trying to shock and awe me into listening to crud and start reporting what the heck is actually going on. I think the world is an adaquately interesting and news worthy thing by itself without irrational, reactionary, scare mongering over largely non-issues.
