Somethings really get my goat and this is one of them.

The wife and I were at the bank today. There was a sign on the door indicating they would be closed on Monday for Presidents Day.

WHY??

Can anyone explain why the banks will close on Presidents Day? Same with Columbus Day. Why do they close??

It makes no sense.

Bad enough banks have so few tellers nowadays. Rarely do I see more than three tellers working at one time.

And I HATE those drive thru windows. I refuse to use them.

When is the last time you saw a male teller? Most people on this website has probably never seen one. Score another one for women refusing to stay home and raise their kids.

Can the parking lots get any smaller at the banks?

The wife asks why I care about Presidents Day since we have no plans on going to the bank on Monday. But that is not the point. The point is they are closing for a holiday that is not a holiday.

When I was a kid there was George Washington's Birthday and Abraham Lincoln's Birthday. For some reason they decided to combine the two to make is a MONDAY holiday. Ridiculous.

When is the last time a bank gave you a Savings Book? I doubt most of you have ever seen one. Better find a way to keep track of your savings between monthly statements, because you do not have a savings books to help you.

OH yeah, today one of the tellers gave a lolly pop to a little girl. Do we really need to be handing out candy at the bank?

These banks today are really something else. There hours are ridiculous. I do not see how a working person can even use a bank. Anyone using an ATM machine is asking to be robbed let alone have problems with their accounts caused the the ATM machines.

Not only are the tellers female, but even the account managers are female. Thank god the bank manager is still a male. If they ever bring in a female, I would seriously consider transferring my money.

And one more thing. I hate how banks change their name and/or ownership constantly. Anytime you go you have no idea what the name of the bank will read. I am still using my Standard Federal checks. I will not buy LaSalle Bank checks just because they decided to change their name.

I agree with SOME of this rant! I cannot remember the last time I saw a savings book, but I sure do remember what they are. Nowadays, I think the banks really discourage children to save in a bank due to the minimum balance required and the fees. When I was a kid (granted, that was a while back), there were no fees for savings accounts and you could open an account with just a few dollars.

As far as the banks closing on Presidents' Day, I agree with that as well. The only holidays I get at the law firm are New Year's Day, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, Labor Day and Memorial Day. That's it.

However, if you are involved in some type of ceremony for Veteran's Day or Martin Luther King Day, I think that you should be able to have the day off. And I am also for having Good Friday off, too.
