Mark Brewer was elected Chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party in 1995, after an extensive record of successful grassroots activity. Since 2003, he has been president of the Association of State Democratic Chairs and a Democratic National Committee vice chairman, having served as a precinct delegate; a delegate to local, state and national conventions; and in numerous local, state and federal ballot-question campaigns in every role, including campaign manager. He chaired the Michigan delegation to the 1996, 2000 and 2004 national conventions. Brewer worked for federal and state judges before joining the law firm of Sachs Waldman in Detroit in 1983. From 1983 until 1995, he was Michigan Democratic Party assistant general counsel. Brewer has also been a guest lecturer on political parties and the political process at Oakland University, the University of Michigan and University of Michigan, Dearborn. He earned a bachelor's degree with honors from Harvard College and a Jurist Doctorate from Stanford University Law School.
