Emmet County is located in the Northern Lower Peninsula and is traversed by US-31 and US131 with Lake Michigan to the west.
The county also encompasses the Waugoshance island group, while the county seat, Petoskey (http://www.infomi.com/city/petoskey/), is at the heart of a large natural harbor. Other incorporated communities within the county include, Alanson (http://www.infomi.com/city/alanson/), Harbor Springs (http://www.infomi.com/city/harborsprings/), and Pellston (http://www.infomi.com/city/pellston/). This county is experiencing some of the most rapid growth in the state, with a major resort development underway and a thriving industrial base continuing to grow.
