Iron Mountain Schools Supt. Denny Chartier earned an “outstanding” or “very good rating” from the Iron Mountain School District Board of Education following the annual performance evaluation for the 2006-07 school year.
Chartier was evaluated using a dual criterion of management by objective goals and day-to-day operation duties assessment, announced Robert Witter, board president.
The board’s evaluation of management objectives for Chartier produced an evaluated average score of 4.24 or outstanding/very good.
Categories involved in this portion of the evaluation included MEAP scores, NCA accreditation, curriculum improvements, physical plant and grounds improvements, Michigan School Report Card and Adequate Yearly Progress.
“Mr. Chartier exceeded board expectations in all of these areas of management,” Witter added.
The board also evaluated the day-to-day operation duties of the superintendent, which produced an evaluated average score of 4.23 or outstanding/very good rating.
Categories in this area of the evaluation included board relations, financial management, personnel management, school improvement, community relations, policy management, technology program management, athletic management, community schools management, facilities management, school activity management, and curriculum and instruction management. All assessments in these areas were in the outstanding or very good range.
