Government waste?

We have hit a new high… or low.

The government wants the taxpayers to know that they will be receiving their fair share of the economic stimulus package.

How did they decide to inform us? By sending the taxpayers a letter. But, those letters will cost us about $42 Million.

The IRS is sending us a letter to let us know they are sending us a check.

Why not just send the check? If the government can put together a list of who is to receive the stimulus check and send us a letter of notification this month, why will it take a couple of extra months to get the checks in the mail?

This information has been on the news and on the internet enough to inform everyone without having to send out a letter.

Just think what could have been done with $42 million!!!

I agree that it is a waste of money.

Have they posted a schedule yet for when people will receive their rebates?

I have seen a schedule but cannot remember exactly where. I would check www.irs.gov (http://www.irs.gov).

Wonder if the Federal Government will call this cost a "stimulus plan" for the people involved in producing and sending these letters. (A couple of my co-workers stated this could be referred to as a part of the stimulus plan...suppliers of the mailing material, people doing the work, etc.)

I really don't have an opinion on this one. Just thought I would share what some are "trying" to make sense of this spending.
