Are we all really so different?

We all have our various differences such as racial backgrounds, opinions, the amount of money we have, the influence in life we have, etc, etc, etc

But, do our basic desires really differ?

I think the answer to the question is no.

The desire of most in this world would be to provide the basic necessities of life to our loved ones.

And then whatever else we can give

So, are we all really so different from one another?

Regardless of our religious and or other beliefs the bottom line is we all want the same basic things in life

So, why is this such a hard thing to accomplish for people

Please share your thoughts, beliefs and or opinions on this matter

Great idea for a thread, Cherub!
I think largely we do desire the same things. I think the difference is the size of the circle we desire it for. There are those who desire only for themselves. Others, most of us I'd say, desire for a tight knit group like a nuclear family and maybe one or two close friends. Some of us temper these desires to those we feel are worthy based on different views of what that means. Still, some of us see a larger group as primary and work to find what is just for them. A few, a rare few, can look beyond this and see the needs for all as being equal, the Mahatma Ghandi's and albanian born Mother Theresa.
Where that line is drawn and what resources we obtain to accomplish for our circle seem to play largely into how we feel about ourselves.
