As a woman, eh?
As a human being this issue is very important to me also.
In any case, just what would be your fears of Ron Paul becoming President concerning the alleged right to have someone kill a fetus? Just what would or could he do to change that?
President Paul would not be able to overturn Roe v. Wade. In a worse case scenario for proponents of women being allowed to have someone terminate the life of their fetus, President Paul would probably have the opportunity to recommend for appointment various Federal Judges, including the Supreme Court.
But a Judge here and a Judge there is not going to overturn Roe v. Wade either.
So what is your fear about this?
Is it your fear that President Paul would bring our troops home from Iraq and stop the loss of American life there? I mean, what is the count thus far? Over 3,000 troops lost in Iraq? Then we hear about how the suicide rate among veterans is twice as high as the general population. Should at least half of those deaths be counted too? How many would that be? 3,000 more? I don't know off-hand, but I'm sure the death toll is greater than 6,000.
And for what? To get rid of the weapons of mass destruction that have never been found? Or to get rid of Saddam who is gone now? Or to protect oil interests and spend our tax dollars to fund the military-industrial complex to rebuild after our destruction over there?
I realize the war in Iraq is a separate issue than allowing women to pay someone to end the life of their fetus' if they so desire. But my point is that President Ron Paul would not change anything significantly when it comes to abortion in the United States. But he would change things significantly in other areas that should, IMO, carry a lot of weight in our decisions.
