Bought a laptop computer a few weeks ago. Then went to Best Buy to get a wireless router and asked the "Geek Squad" their opinion as to which to buy. Took their advice but they told me 95% of people can't figure out how to set these up properly especially the security part and suggested I have the Geek Squad do it for a bit over $100.

Well, I did it myself in about 15 minutes. What a joke. But I did notice the wireless connection was never that great from the get go. The brand I bought was a Dynex. Over a few weeks time my connection was slowly getting worse until I had little to no connectivity.

I called the Geek Squad and asked their opinion. Of course they just wanted me to bring in my computer and charge me $60 just to check things out. Hmm, for free I can bring the item back and try a new one of which I did.

On sale tonight I bought a D-Link wireless router for $49 of which is normally $79. Good for 1200 feet and an "N" class router as opposed to a "G" class of the other.

According to the Geek Squad people they said the one I had was a better router. Well, common sense told me different after reading the box. And, guess what. I decided to go with the common sense that's always served me well over many years and it proved to do me well once again.

I hooked up this new wireless router and guess what. There is absolutely no comparison. This new wireless router is far superior.

So what's the point? Never underestimate common sense and never overestimate anyone just because they're a certified guru of something. And, your gut feeling is usually right.
