Joe Mule and I were having quite a discussion about this in the Mitt Romney section.
It started off with Joe Mule saying Mormons were not Christians.
The discussion them evolved into who can go to heaven
Growing up Catholic, I was always told by the nuns that only Catholics go to heaven. When I was in high school, I had a good friend who was a Baptist and discovered she was taught only those who are "born again" go to heaven.
She and I had long talks about this and came to the conclusion that you can be Catholic or Baptist just as long as you are Christian.
Now that I am older (a lot older) I wonder why God would not allow someone into heaven just because of what religion they were brought up.
There are Billions of people on this planet who never even heard of Christianty and the teachings of Christ. Would a loving God keep them out of heaven?
Would a loving God tell a Mormon they cannot come inside?
I have come to the conclusion that anyone who lives a good life will go to Heaven. What is a good life? Hard to explain, but I would say it is being kind to people, looking out for others, being true to your spouse, being honest, etc. Of course only God could look into ones heart to see what they are really like.
But I do not accept that fact that only Christians go to Heaven.
What do others think?
