Last night around 11 p.m., I let my dog Warren out to go to the bathroom and I saw bloody dog prints up my driveway to the gate. I go to let Warren in the backyard and suddenly, there is this chocolate lab coming out of my yard. He wasn't aggressive, but obviously hurt. He lay down on the grass and by the time I could run back in and get my flashlight, he was gone. I called the police but they said they were too busy to come, especially since I didn't actually have the dog.
This morning, I took Warren and tracked the dog's bloody prints back down to where Harrison and Goddard join and into Wyandotte where that park is (I don't know the name of it). We crossed the park (there were no prints in the street) and found that the dog came from Wyandotte up Goddard. It looks like he went back into the woods there by the creek and River Drive.
So, if you happen to spot him/her, please call to get this dog some help. I don't know if it was injured by firecrackers, hit by a car, or attacked by some kind of animal, but its footprints were totally bloody and very easy to follow. I wasn't about to go into the woods area there, but he might wander back out somewhere along River Drive. So please watch out for him. Thanks.

I've just been informed that the dog was reunited with his owner and was taken to the vet and will be all right.

I heard that a number of dogs got out from being terrified from the fireworks. I came home to my own dog being terrified. I had adopted him a couple of weeks after 4th of July last year, so I didn't know how he would react.

I'll know what to do next year!

Sorry to hear that about your dog. Good thing it's not the 4th of July everyday!

Our dog just wanted to play with anyone and anything that moved near her. She has this idea that anything that moves is her playmate.

Thanks!

I will be more prepared next year now that I know how he will react.
